How To get Involved with Tech

Tech usually encompases everything that goes on behind the scenes for shows. Tech departments include:

  • Hair and Makeup

  • Costumes

  • Lights

  • Sound

  • Build

  • Run Crew

  • Set Decoration

  • Props

  • Production

  • Stage Managing 

  • Tech Directing 

There is usually one big tech meeting held at the beginning of each semester, after the audition process. Follow us on social media and or expect an email with more details. When you arrive at the meeting there is typically a presentation by our Technical Advisor about what each department does and the directors will also give a short overview of what the individual show will require in terms of tech. You don't need any previous experience to join a tech crew! If something seems exciting, sign up! We will train you if needed.


After the presentations, you'll be given a tech form to gauge interest and experience. All you have to do is fill it out and give it to the tech Advisor and you should be assigned to a tech team in the next week or so! 

* We'll most likely be only needing sound design to record and edit the podcasts for this semester. However, tune into the tech meeting for more information!

What to expect as a member of Tech

Once assigned to a tech team you'll expect to get an email from your tech director to set up the weekly tech meetings. Most tech meetings will be no longer than 30 minutes and will just be way for you to check in with the tech director on your progress. Some departments won't have a lot to do until the week of the show so don't feel pressured if you don't have many updates each week. Any questions about specific departments, email us!
